I am a runner and a pack rat. I am trying to overcome the latter, but that’s a different story. This website was inspired from websites such as PostSecret, Found and MailArt, where normal everyday people share their secrets, stuff and own creations on the web for others to see. So I started thinking about what I could do that would combine that with running and after a while it dawned on me… running bibs.
Runners in a race are reduced to a number in order to identified legimate runners on the course, a tyvek ID in case of emergency and it’s easier for the finish line volunteers to write down (or key in) ‘166′ then asking people their names. Now, I know that not all races hand out bibs, but I would venture that most do. Some bibs are big and fancy, decked out with logos, names and dates where as other bibs are recycled leftovers from a race.
Regardless of what condition of these bibs, they tell a story. And it is my hope to capture some of them and share them with the world. I would like to showcase running bibs from around the world, from the local low-key races to high profile races such as London or Boston.
But I don’t want it to be limited to just running events. I would love to have multisport events (triathlons, biathlons) even Olympic Competion! I probably would even post a bib from events such as the try-outs for American Idol.
And then my running buddy Steve over at Phedippidations suggested that I shouldn’t limit it to just bibs. He has a pair of shoes that would fit the theme of this website… so with if there is anything from a competition you would like to share, then I would like to hear about it! Even if it’s not an athletic endeavor, but there’s a story,I’ll take that too!
